The Los Angeles Hair Restoration Courses 2023 conference was a highly anticipated event in the hair transplant community that brought together hair transplant surgeons worldwide. The conference spanned three days, and each day was full of exciting educational and networking opportunities.
LAHRC DAY #1: Educational Presentations + Cocktail Reception
Day one of the conference began early in the morning with presentations by the faculty. The conference was held at the beautiful Hilton Garden Inn hotel in Redondo Beach. The presenters were experts in the field and spoke on various topics related to hair restoration. The presentations covered the fundamentals of hair restoration surgery, new techniques and technologies, patient selection criteria, post-operative care, and more. The presentations were followed by Q&A sessions and discussion panels where attendees could ask questions, get clarification on the covered topics, and engage in productive tete-a-tete.
After a full day of presentations by faculty, attendees were delighted to participate in a festive cocktail reception. They mingled and interacted with one another, enjoying the luxurious atmosphere and delicious hors d’oeuvres. A talented violinist made the reception all the better with live music. Faculty and attendees had ample opportunities at the reception to take memorable photos with the event backdrops.
LAHRC DAY #2: Live Surgeries + Delightful GALA Dinner
Day two of the conference focused on live surgeries. Two live surgeries were performed simultaneously at Dr. U Hair and Skin Clinic. The surgeries were moderated by Dr. Paul Rose, Dr. Anastasios Vekris, and Dr. Kavish Chouhan – all prominent hair transplant surgeons. The doctors performing the procedures were Dr. Sanusi Umar, Dr. Maria Marta Zollinger, and Dr. Alex Gonzalez for one case, and Dr. Tayfun Oğuzoğlu, Dr. Juan Maldonado, and Dr. Achiamah Osei-Tutu for the other.
The surgeons who attended the conference could watch live surgeries performed in real-time by the doctors mentioned above, some of the world’s top hair restoration surgeons. This allowed attendees to learn about new techniques and see how they were being applied. To make sure they got the most out of the experience, the time each group of doctors was in an operation room was monitored so that the groups got to switch ORs to get the chance to observe both surgeries.
On the evening of the second day, a gala dinner was held at Blue Water Grill in Redondo Beach. Attendees could network with other attendees, meet the presenters and faculty, and discuss the topics covered in the presentations and surgeries. It was a fantastic opportunity to socialize and learn from other hair restoration experts. More than that, the dinner provided a space for the doctors to catch up with old friends worldwide and meet new ones. The attendees enjoyed mesmerizing performances by belly dancers – paired with a bewitching snake show. They were also treated to HBO Max comedian David Rodriguez’ show, which filled the venue with many belly laughs.
LAHRC DAY #3: Cadaver Lab
Day three of the conference was held at the Science Care Lab in Long Beach. This day was centered around the cadaver lab. The lab enabled physicians to learn more about hair anatomy, graft handling, extraction, and implantation. The lab allowed attendees to practice the techniques they had learned in the presentations on Day 1 of the conference and apply them in a controlled and educational environment.
